Setting up Multifactor Authentication on a mobile device (smartphone or tablet) Follow
Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is an extra security measure in addition to passwords that requires you to provide additional verification (factors) when logging into your account.
This guide will help you secure your account using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
1. Start by ensuring you have the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play store.
Download for iOS: Microsoft Authenticator on the App Store (apple.com)
Download for Android: Microsoft Authenticator – Apps on Google Play
2. To onboard your MFA-enabled account, use your computer to open a web browser, go to the Microsoft Security Info portal (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info) and log in using your Great Southern Grammar email and password. You will be prompted for more information.
For parents, this email address is YourID@community.gsg.wa.edu.au.
3. You will be prompted to use the Microsoft Authenticator. Once installed on your smartphone, select 'Next'.
4. At the 'Set up your account in the app' pop-up in your web browser, tap on 'Pair your account to the app by clicking this link'. You may be asked to open the link in the app. Tap 'Open'.
Your Great Southern Grammar account should now appear in the app. If you are asked to allow notifications or enable App Lock tap on 'Allow' or 'OK'.
5. Back in your web browser, tap 'Next'. You will now be asked to test your MFA setup. 'Let's try it out' will give you a two-digit number
It will also send you a push notification.
6. Tap the push notification, and enter the two-digit number into Microsoft Authenticator. You will receive an 'Approved' notification if the code has been entered correctly.
7. Go back to the browser and tap next to complete the setup. You have now successfully configured Microsoft Authenticator to secure your account and can continue to use your phone and the Great Southern Grammar systems.
8. Periodically, you will be prompted to verify your identity when you attempt to log into Great Southern Grammar systems. You will receive a notification pop-up with a two-digit verification code, like in step 6. To verify, go to your phone and enter the verification code into Microsoft Authenticator.
